Description
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (1452 – 1519 Italian)
In Italy, Leonardo Da Vinci is properly known as “Leonardo” rather than “Da Vinci”, which was not his last name, but refers to the place of his birth. Far too famous a figure to be summed up in a few lines, he was the greatest mind and polymath of the Renaissance whose areas of interest included invention, drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, paleontology, and cartography.
He is widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time, despite the fact that only 15 of his paintings (some disputed) having survived. The Mona Lisa is the most famous of his works and the most popular portrait ever made.
